• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • A goodly chunk of this film, at least a third, was filmed aboard the USS Arizona. The Arizona was blown up and sunk by a Japanese bomb at Pearl Harbor seven years later, with over 1100 sailors killed.
  • And the airship that Chesty sails on at the end of the film is the USS Macon, which crashed and sank off the coast of California in 1935, causing the US Navy to get out of the blimp business. In that case only two members of the 66-man crew were lost.
