• Angst? What Angst?: Tristan adapts to his new life as a witch’s frog familiar remarkably well. After one slight Freak Out after he wakes up in his new body and getting confirmation that his human body is dead, he settles in with Limu and gets used to his new form with nary a word of complaint. His only real regret is being unable to contact his mother, and that’s handled with him asking Limu to let him appear as a ghost in front of his cousin to inform him that his death was an accident and to tell his mother that he loves her, all in order to give them both closure. Though the end of the chapter hints that something bad has happened to his mother, possibly that she’s even died.
• Awesome Art: Josceline’s experience with animation and storyboard illustrations really shines through; The comic’s thick line-art and it being in just black and white results in an overall simple, but striking look that’s somewhat reminiscent of Tim Burton’s work and wouldn’t look out of place in a Gothic-inspired children’s book.
