- Paranoia Fuel: The first volume is particularly disturbing on this front. It starts out with the CIA kidnapping of Haddad, who then spends the final years of his life in unmarked prisons (granted, he is an Al-Quaeda banker, but the narration makes it clear that extrajudicial detention by American secret services can happen to anyone in the world, at any point, on a mere suspicion of supporting terrorists), and ends with Chamza being targeted by an American plot to install micro-cameras into her eyes that let Kendricks' men spy on Chamza 24/7, even in her most intimate moments.
