• Catharsis Factor: Adolf Hitler is a boss in this game, and just like in Wolfenstein 3-D where his sprites come from, his death animation has him melt into a pile of gore.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Both Mario and Mega Man X are bosses. Two years later, they appeared together again in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U (the latter as part of Mega Man's Final Smash).
