• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • One shot has the Infinity fly off-screen before the lifeless wreckage of a space shuttle randomly floats by with a large hole blown in it's side, bringing to mind the later Challenger disaster.
  • The ship's captain declares 2001 to be "a GREAT year" after drinking a vintage wine from that year^note The movie was made in 1980, but is set in 3008. Sadly in real-life, the year of 2001 would be anything but great as it would bear witness to the 9/11 attacks.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: Despite being a low-budget movie, the special effects are all very well-done, from costume to make-up and even the spaceships themselves are very convincing and never look fake, whether it's an actual model or simply an illustration.
