YMMV / GOT7

Go To

  • Broken Base: Jackson's pro-Beijing comments and actions. Ahgases (along with k-pop fans in general) are divided on whether or not Jackson is a traitor to Hong Kong and/or a 'dirty commie' or is he just protecting his (and his family's) interests in Mainland China. Of course, fans from Mainland China do support and agree with his pro-Beijing activities.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: While they aren't as popular in Korea, they've gained a lot of success overseas, notably in the US and Thailand, due to having foreign members.
  • Idiosyncratic Ship Naming: A mild example; JB and Jinyoung are called JJP because they make up the subunit JJ Project.
    • JBnote  and Youngjae are 2jae; Jinyoung and Youngjae are 2young; JB, Jinyoung, and Youngjae are 2youngjae.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The storyline of the Flight Log Trilogy. The members were messing around in a van that JB was driving. He ends up driving off a cliff, causing the members to get tossed around the car as they weren't wearing seatbelts. All of them end up dying as a result of the accident except Jinyoung, who was the only wearing a seatbelt, but he possibly commits suicide due to the survivors' guilt.
    • The "Never Ever" music video. JB drives a car off a bridge, Jinyoung is trapped in a terrarium, Mark has to rescue Jinyoung from drowning, then Yugyeom is shown in what looks like a hospital, overlooking Jinyoung, who is laying on a stretcher, presumably dead.
  • Portmanteau Couple Name: The majority of GOT7 ships, excluding those that involve a combination of JB, Jinyoung, and Youngjae.
  • Shocking Moments:
    • The martial arts tricking in their earlier choreographies, notably Girls Girls Girls.
    • The 2018 MAMAs performance. In includes a deep, emotional ballad version of "Lullaby," a darker "Fine" remix where nightmarish figures completely envelop Yugyeom at the end of the choreo, a performance of "Nightmare," where Jackson raps in Cantonese, and finally, a darker, sexier remix of "Lullaby" that includes new choreo.
    • This pre-debut performance with Mark, Jackson, Bambam, and Yugyeom, especially this part.
