• Harsher in Hindsight: During the Battle of Earth, Alley and his squad are deployed to Kyiv, where a major clash takes place between the UNSC and Covenant forces. The fic was completed in 2011, but in 2022 Kyiv would become a war zone in Real Life after Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine.
• More Popular Spin Off: TheAmateur started off writing fanfic about the SPARTAN-IIIs, specifically following Team Rapier who appear in the final chapters of From Harvest to the Ark. Alley Garris was originally a side character in the second Team Rapier story Survivors of Gamma Company, and when TheAmateur decided to expand his own backstory, it became several times more popular.
