* EvilIsSexy: Santanico Pandemonium played by Creator/SalmaHayek, of course! Even her transformation looks less gruesome than the other vampires, since she still retains her feminine features.

* EvilIsSexy:
** Amaru and Brasa, what with the two of them being HellBentForLeather and prone to speaking in sultry, deep raspy voices.
** Carlos and Narciso qualify as well.

** Pete Bottoms, the ill-fated store clerk in the beginning of the movie, says to Seth that he's acting natural and quips "I should win a fucking Academy Award for acting natural". John Hawkes would later get nominated for ''Film/WintersBone'', though.

** Because of the HalfwayPlotSwitch and the fact that pre-Mexico was all talk, talk, talk while Mexico was action, action, action; film-buffs everywhere instantly declared that it was obvious that the first part was directed by Creator/QuentinTarantino and the second part by Creator/RobertRodriguez. The duo would end up doing exactly that in their later film ''Film/{{Grindhouse}}''.

** The scene in which Richie sucks Santanico's whiskey-soaked bare foot should be as sexy and hypnotic to the viewer as it is to Richie himself, but it just becomes hilarious and/or awkward if one is familiarized with Tarantino and his infamous foot fetish. Any suspicions that Tarantino wrote that scene (or even worse, the ''entire film'') for himself are probably right.
** There's also Seth's penchant for threatening to [[IJustShotMarvinInTheFace shoot people in the face]]. Given what infamously happened in ''Film/PulpFiction'', it's clear that Tarantino isn't fooling anybody with that.

* FanPreferredCouple: Seth and Kate, which is around twice as popular as the next biggest pairing of Richie and Kate.

** Season 3: [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen Amaru, Queen of Xibalba]], who once enslaved the entire Culebra race, takes the chance to jump into the dying body of Kate Fuller when her [[SealedEvilInACan seal]] is weakened. Slaughtering the remaining Culebra Lords save one survivor, Amaru proceeds to torture and kill multiple culebras and humans, even murdering the human lover of Kisa [[KickTheDog just to hurt her]] out of belief that Kisa has no right to call herself a queen. Amaru spends the remainder of the season sending horrible demons after her enemies that cause incredible amounts of pain and suffering, and tries to kill Kate's loved ones to [[ForcedToWatch force her to watch]] as a prisoner in her own body. Causing several more massacres, Amaru regains her own original body, her influence [[DrivenToMadness driving an entire nearby town mad]] with the inhabitants of a hospital slaughtering one another. Amaru soon reveals her intent is to drag the entire human and culebra races into hell so she can torture their souls forever in revenge for her sealing.

** Season 2: Lord Amancio [[MeaningfulName Malvado]] is the eldest and most power-hungry of the Nine Lords of the vampiric Culebras. In the past, Malvado murdered the family of young girl Kisa and rechristened her "Santánico Pandemonium" to become his immortal Culebra SexSlave, also having her lure in and devour countless people over the centuries. In present, Malvado runs the biggest criminal empire from Texas to Mexico, overseeing everything from drugs and weapons to {{human traffick|ers}}ing. When Kisa escapes his clutches, Malvado summons the Regulator to brutally kill anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts, skinning those who disappoint him along the way and ultimately hoping to open a path to ''Shangri-La'' and spend eternity with Kisa to serve him as his subservient belonging.

* {{Dhampyr}}: Technically, except from the Nine Lords, all of the Culebras are this, As the Nine Lords are born Culebras, demons from Xibalba, whereas other Culebra shown is turned from them making them hybrids instead of full bloods.

** One that kinda stretches it, but in 1992, Creator/JulietteLewis, who plays a (reluctant) vampire slayer here, beat out Creator/KristySwanson for a role in Creator/WoodyAllen's ''Film/HusbandsAndWives''. Later that year, Swanson would star in another movie about...[[Film/BuffyTheVampireSlayer well...]]

** Jacob is a pastor who [[Film/{{Signs}} lost his faith when his wife died in a car accident, and regains it while dealing with a paranormal horror]].

* HarsherInHindsight: All those vampire strippers you see in the movie? [[spoiler: The tv series reveals that they used to be innocent young women who were kidnapped and sold to the {{Greater Scope Villain}}s to create a vampire army. Yes, even Santanico Pandemonium]].
