YMMV / Freaky Friday (1976)

Go To

  • Adaptation Displacement: Few people know that this is The Film of the Book, specifically of a 1972 novel.
  • Fridge Horror:
    • Throughout the movie, Annabel's friends repeatedly say to "Annabel" (really Ellen) "I've never seen you so down before" and other remarks about how Ellen-as-Annabel is down. Ellen could actually really be depressed! If you think about it, she's very discontent with almost everything about her life: she hates being a housewife, her relationship with her husband is lacklustre, her relationship with her daughter is bad (at least up until now—because of what happened in the movie, it will probably improve from now on)...
    • Sure, the movie is hilarious and ends on a heartwarming note, but think about all the messes caused in both womens' lives because of what happened in the movie (and this is before taking into consideration the involvement of the law during the Car Chase)!
      • The entire hockey team, and their coach, probably hate Annabel now that she caused them to lose; maybe she'll even be kicked out of the team.
      • Annabel will have to retake the typing test, and her parents will probably be held financially responsible for all the typewriters wrecked by "Annabel".
      • Ellen has lost her cleaning lady and will have to search for a new one.
      • Ellen will have to deal with the awkwardness of her husband liking her to call him "Daddy" (remember he really seems to like it in the movie when "Ellen" mistakenly calls him Daddy; he will probably refer to that again from now on...)
