• Moral Event Horizon: Rance. Willing to take out the entire brothel just to get to his kid, and is willing to be sexually serviced in public, because he thinks that's what women are for. Rather telling for someone who doesn't even survive the episode.
• Special Effect Failure:
  • As Burgess backs out of the room holding his son, what's in his hands is obviously a doll. Cut to Nandi, and back to Burgess, who's now holding a live Three-Month-Old Newborn.
  • The firehose. Which very clearly has all the water pressure of a lawn sprinkler, but the men hit by it act like they're taking a point blank blast from a full powered hose.
• Values Resonance: Nandi offering Mal the services of the brothel's male prostitutes isn't played as a joke or insult. She's just offering him another option off the menu, and he simply declines, taking no offense. A bit ahead of its time in 2002, but perfectly in line with today.
