• Broken Base: This is almost guaranteed with any period drama but which adaptation of the book is better is certainly a divine subject for fans.
• Tear Jerker: Fanny's death is particularly poignant.
• Values Resonance: The awkwardness of romantic attraction between a supervisor and a subordinate has not changed since the novel came out in the 1870s.
