• Nightmare Fuel: A Double Whammy for Eddie: Being racially profiled by the police officers, then his father refusing to believe him. When Carl realizes that Eddie was telling the truth, he admits that he, too, also lived this nightmare when he was a teenager.
• Strawman Has a Point: Carl wasn't exactly wrong to be suspicious Eddie was lying, as Eddie has proven himself to be irresponsible time and time again even in this same episode.
• Values Resonance: Racial profiling and police brutality are still major issues in today's world, so this episode aged quite well. Darius McCrary still talks about the episode to this very day.
