YMMV / Family Guy S 6 E 2 Movin Out Brians Song

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • One Deleted Scene has Stewie wake up Brian and Jillian after a nightmare in which Christmas had to be cancelled after Santa got a DUI, with Mrs. Claus saying that "[Santa's] been having some trouble lately". Three seasons later, Stewie would witness how far Santa had fallen first-hand, and his (and Brian's) attempt at Subbing for Santa completely fails, resulting in Christmas essentially being cancelled for real.
    • One scene has Meg mention that, after getting fired from the store, she tried her hand at working a phone sex line and utterly failed at it, with the twist being that her only client was Peter. A later episode would have Lois get a job at a phone sex line, and Peter would find himself falling for her voice, leading to him being Mistaken for Cheating and putting his and Lois' marriage at risk.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: It's all but impossible to discuss this episode without talking about the infamous fake ad for The Simpsons that transitioned into a Cutaway Gag with Quagmire raping Marge and then going to her house and murdering her family. The joke provoked a serious backlash, including from Fox network executives, Matt Groening and people who worked on The Simpsons, and is more talked about than any other element of the episode, including the fact that it served as the conclusion of the Jillian arc.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Brian. He's treated as being a douchebag for lying about wanting to move in with Jillian, with her even saying he broke her heart. However, Brian was pressured into moving in with her on short notice because Peter meddled in his affairs while spending the day with her (complete with him telling Jillian "Either he commits to you, or you're gone", all because Brian didn't want to go to a show with her), and did it to prove a point to Peter and Lois. Then, Stewie shows up, makes Brian an offer he can't refuse so Brian can pay the rent, then annoys the hell out of both Brian and Jillian, and outright blackmails Brian, at which point he snaps, leading to the truth coming out and Brian and Jillian breaking up (and to make matters worse, Stewie blames Brian for "letting" himself be pushed around, when, as previously mentioned, Stewie blackmailed him without any good reason).
