• Ending Fatigue: Toward the end of the series, it increasingly feels like the plot is just an excuse to keep the series going until the author has finished tweaking the worldbuilding to her satisfaction.
• Series Continuity Error: In Sporting Chance, the saboteur claims that Serrano was responsible for the deaths of two cousins named Iklind, the second of whom was supposedly the militia member who shot George and later betrayed Serrano and Cecilia, who shot him. However, in Hunting Party, the Iklind involved in George's capture is named as receiving immunity, and the man who shot George and betrayed the other two was named Dusserahl.
