YMMV / Fall of X

Go To

  • Catharsis Factor:
    • The event started with Mutants at their lowest and wins are going to come from them successfully fighting for their lives.
    • In X-Men #25, Kate kills a bunch of overconfident Orchis mooks, in brutal ways, that while shocking are darkly satisfying after what they did. Especially after the last one standing pathetically begs for mercy, remembering how the X-Men previously saved his life during another Orchis mission. Kate snapped his neck with her bare hands.
    • Uncanny Avengers starts with Psylocke and Penance invading an Orchis faculty, murdering Orchis mooks with ease and that's before Captain America, Mr. "Punches Hitler on his First Cover Ever" stepping up and smashing a few mooks with his Mighty Shield.
    • For decades, the superhero community, mainly the Avengers mostly ignored the plight of mutants and left them to fend for themselves. This era sees that come to an end and it’s nice to see Avengers like Cap, Stark and Thor backing their mutant allies against Orchis.
    • X-Men Blue: Origins has Mystique revealing she never loved Azazel. Their affair was a tedious one she was pushed into by Destiny, and Mystique was more than happy to call it off first chance she got. This, alongside the reveal that Mystique and Destiny were Nightcrawler's true parents, served some massive catharsis for fans who loathed the controversial storyline where Azazel was revealed as Nightcrawler's father (instead of Chris Claremont's original plan of Raven taking on a male form to impregnate Irene). It gets even better when Azazel is abruptly killed off in Dark X-Men #5, making it clear now that he's no longer needed with the identity of Kurt's real parents now established.
  • Like You Would Really Do It: Certain series starring popular characters were solicited before the start of Fall of X, reinforcing the view that deaths such as Iceman, Mystique and Jean Grey during the Hellfire Gala one-shot were not going to last.
