YMMV / Evil Tales

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Due to the intentional vagueness of the stories, many of the characters are subject to this.
    • A rather popular interpretation of Gretel is that she's in the mental hospital for killing her own twin brother in a fit of madness, possibly after he killed their parents.
    • Just how villainous is Elizabeth's stepmother? Her fairy tale counterpart is certainly evil, but it's left vague as how much this translates to the real world.
  • Awesome Music: The videos all use very cool and atmospheric music from various soundtracks. Including:
    • The haunting and dramatic "Meeting Laura" and "Lost Love" from Perfume used throughout Fascination.
    • The appropriately fairytale-esque "Le Ali del Principio" from Baten Kaitos Origins, which opens Repulsion and introduces the viewer to the mysterious, magical library.
    • "Adagio" from Alien³, a track both epic and tragic that fits very well with the scene where Elizabeth takes her own life in front of everyone after killing her stepmother.
  • No Yay: Aura and the Wolf's 'relationship' is chocked full of disturbing implications. He's an obsessed stalker who enjoys scaring her, murders her grandmother and is implied to rape her; she herself is utterly terrified of him. The revelation that he's the father of Luna - who is of a similar age to Aura - makes him significantly older than her, which only adds to the creepiness.
  • Spiritual Adaptation: Could be seen as one to American McGee's Alice, seeing as they have noted similarties in plot, setting, themes and tone. Marocelli himself has stated that he drew inspiration from the game when creating the series.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: For a series made using only The Sims 3 and some mods and custom content, the videos look quite stunning at times.
