YMMV / Escaflowne: The Movie

• Awesome Art: Again, not matter what quibbles one may have with the film's narrative, the animation is gorgeous.
• Awesome Music: With Yoko Kanno and the Warsaw Orchestra returning, the already-awesome score from the TV Series benefits from a full cinematic music budget and scope.
• Broken Base: Even 20 years later, the Movie's still divisive. Some fans feel it's an unnecessary re-imagining of the classic series, alters the story too much, and discards so many core elements that it's really just Escaflowne in name only. Others feel it's an interesting re-imagining of the mythos with a gorgeous cinematic scope and an appreciation for the darker, more mature tone and storyline.
