• Tear Jerker:
  • Barry's depression over Dawn's disappearance is pretty sad on its own, but his horrified reaction to Jirachi wanting his memories of her is especially bad.
    No, No, No, that was not part of the deal! He needed his memories! It was all he had left of her!
  • After being attacked by an Alpha Drapion and poisoned, he is found by Palina. The injury and poison in his system leads him to believe she's actually his mother, and he begins apologizing for worrying her.
    Mom…I’m sorry for running off like I a-always do…
  • Barry frequently thinks of and misses his mother. And while he misses a lot of things back home, thinking of his mother nearly sends him spiraling.
  • Barry's reaction when he sees that there are kids in the Diamond and Pearl Clan settlements. While we know that this is entirely innocent, Barry thinks the Clans are splinters of Team Galactic, so he interprets it as Team Galactic having resorted to brainwashing children.
  • When Ingo and Barry face off, Ingo, wanting to help Barry and keep him from causing any more damage, ends up knocking him out with his Tangrowth's Sleep Powder. Barry (who thinks Ingo has turned traitor for Team Galactic), says "And to think, I used to look up to you" in response. Ingo, being an amnesiac, is shaken to his core by this.
  • Before that, he accidentally calls Barry "Palmer".
  • Barry's dream sequence putting him and Dawn in the titular roles of Orpheus and Eurydice. If you know anything about that story, you'll know it doesn't end well…
  • In chapter 15, we get to see Dawn's side of things. Turns out, she misses Barry as much as he misses her, and she ends up bawling her eyes out when telling Adaman and Irida about him. After calming down, she resolves to name her new shiny Buizel after him.
• The Woobie: Barry really gets put through the ringer. His best friend disappears, he goes off his meds and when he seeks help from Jirachi to get his friend back, his memories are erased and he's thrown into a hostile environment.
