  • Harsher in Hindsight: "Eighteen months is too long to wait"? Try sixteen years, which was the gap we ended up with between Sylvester McCoy's last story and the first Christopher Eccleston story ("Dimensions in Time" and the TV movie notwithstanding). Additionally, whatever else can be said about the song itself, the participants' worries that the show would lose relevance during those eighteen months turned out to be entirely correct, as the show largely crashed and burned in the ratings after the hiatus.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: While an eighteen-month gap between seasons was seen as disastrous at the time, it would actually become the standard wait between seasons during the eras of Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker, due to the increasingly complex demands of producing the show.
  • Older Than They Think: Despite the disparaging comparisons made between this single and the same year's groundbreaking Live Aid event, this single actually predated Live Aid by several months. It did, however, come several months after "Do They Know It's Christmas?", which resulted in many even more disparaging comparisons in the contemporary press.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Yes, that is a young Hans Zimmer playing the synthesizer in the music video.
