  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The premise of the game for both the hiker and the watchman.
      • The hiker is lost and alone in a dark forest, being chased by something and must rely on the voice of a complete stranger to get to safety.
      • The watchman is alone up in their tower and must do what they can to reassure and guide a terrified hiker to safety, knowing that if they make too many mistakes it could cost him his life. Worse still, it becomes evident that the Goatman is aware of your presence and is toying with you both, as well as trying to trick you into revealing your own location. The watchman has to worry about saving both the hiker and preserving their own life.
    • The Goatman. Not only is it a sneaky, bloodthirsty predator, but it's established that it is a sapient creature who enjoys messing with and deliberately terrorising its prey. And it can imitate voices.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Once you've figured out that the Goatman can mimic the hiker's voice, and is actively looking for you both, it's easy to become paranoid trying to figure out who's talking when and where they are exactly in the park, especially as you're stuck in the tower and can't see a whole lot.
  • The Woobie: The hiker. As he himself states, all he wanted was a nice peaceful weekend to himself in the great outdoors, only to find himself trapped in a living nightmare.
