YMMV / Dikembe Mutombo's 4½ Weeks to Save the World

Go To

  • Angst? What Angst?: Played for Laughs. The death of Science the Bear in the final episode causes Dikembe to lose his temper, but as soon as the threat is finally neutralized (and Science appears to Dikembe as a ghost, Dikembe is completely nonplussed by the situation.
  • Awesome Music: The soundtrack.
  • Do Not Do This Cool Thing: In "The Great 2012 Dance Crisis", Dikembe is tasked with throwing ballots at voters to stop them from dancing to an ersatz version of PSY's Gangnam Style... except that the beat is infectiously catchy, and it's often easy to continue playing the level just to hear the song loop over again and again.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: Although not mentioned by name, the "South Korean dance craze", as well as the background music, referred to in "The Great 2012 Dance Crisis" is intended to be this to South Korean popstar PSY's monster hit "Gangnam Style".
  • Unintentional Period Piece: The game presumes that the player is familiar with a number of events that happened in 2012, including the South Korean dance craze caused by PSY's "Gangnam Style", voting irregularities in the U.S. election, the closing of Hostess Foods, the glut of vampire-themed teen movies being released in that year, Kate Middleton's pregnancy, the 40th anniversary of Pong and the U.S. fiscal cliff situation. This (along with licensing issues with Old Spice) after often cited as the key reason for the game's eventual removal from its original hosting site, as it's presumed that players would likely be too confused by what's happening to get invested in the game.
