• Suspiciously Similar Song: A song heard in the cheerleading tryouts desperately wants to be Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go".
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Nina Miller, in stark contrast to her more sympathetic counterpart from the original movie (Monica). Due to Kelly Locke being an Adaptational Nice Guy in comparison to her Alpha Bitch counterpart Stacy Lockwood, Nina's harsh treatment of Kelly is much less justified. As a result, Kelly's bullying of Nina is pretty tame and nowhere near enough to justify Nina telling her (in writing) that she "wants to see her blood drip". Nina getting accused of killing Kelly ends up feeling like Laser-Guided Karma as a result.
