• Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: Along with Quintet, Threads, and The Road, this is one of the most aggressively bleak post-apocalyptic stories of all time, even by the genre's usual standards. While the film ends with Prof. Larsen's students leaving the bunker to find any surviving traces of civilization, it is pretty clear by the state of things that they will not succeed and will most likely die on the way from the radiation. The harsh sepia tone doesn't help things either.
