• Values Resonance: Daria delivers a speech to Val about the damage her magazine does by pandering and patronizing to its reader base instead of giving them information on life they can use as adults. This remains especially relevant as a subtle deconstruction of the Younger and Hipper trope, which bases itself around aging down fictional properties under the guise of making it accessible to fans when it so often robs the content of anything meaningful. Daria points out Val's readers won't be teenagers forever and her magazine only seeks to exploit them for their money instead of doing anything to help prepare them for life as adults, which serves as a rather decent call out to how supposed youth-oriented media offers nothing substantial to its viewers or supports them while operating under the guise of being "Now" and "With it."
