YMMV / Courage The Cowardly Dog S 4 E 50 Courageous Cure Ball Of Revenge

Go To

Ball of Revenge:

  • Never Live It Down: Fans who dislike Eustace refuse to ignore his actions for essentially wanting to murder Courage for a petty reason. It didn't help that he essentially got away with it and that the show was close to ending, which doesn't give him enough time to make him look better.
  • Older Than They Think: One of the biggest complaints about the episode is that the villains aren't put to good use because their method of taking down Courage is something as basic as dodgeball. However, while this is true for most of the villains, defeating Courage with a sports game has always been part of Katz's M.O., with him defeating Courage with tennis in "A Night at the Katz Motel" and a staring contest in "Katz Kandy".
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • Fans argue that it should've been Katz who leads the Villain Team-Up since he was the most reoccurring foe of Courage's and Eustace was never allied with the following villains for different reasons.
    • It's also agreed that if they were gonna get some of the villains, Courage should've been allowed to get some of his allies, most of whom were well-received by the fanbase.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Fans had made it clear that they were down for a Villain Team-Up and believe it should be Courage using his wits to get out of the situation and take down his foes rather than a dodgeball game.
  • Unexpected Character: In terms of the villains Eustace summons, all six of them have no reason to work with him:
    • The Cajun Fox hasn't appeared in another episode since Season 1's Cajun Granny Stew (in which Eustace didn't appear).
    • Katz, Le Quack, and the Black Puddle Queen tried to harm/kill Eustace in their respective episodes. Why would he bring them back?
    • The Cluching Foot possessed Eustace in its debut episode, and it disappeared when Courage continuously licked it.
    • Eustace never actually met the Weremole. Also, why would it want revenge on Courage?
  • The Woobie: Courage. He took it pretty hard when Eustace voiced his hatred of him all because he was given the blanket he wanted. It doesn't get better there as Eustace then brings in villains from the past to kill him and they were very close to doing so if it weren't for Muriel encouraging him to find a way to win, which he does by screaming.
