• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • At one point, Columbo sees two bottles of champagne and believes Franklin is taking company to his cabin, and Franklin says he perfectly capable of drinking two bottles of champagne and a lot more by himself. Five years later, Jack Cassidy burned to death when he got extremely drunk and fell asleep with a lit cigarette.
  • Lilly La Sanka being murdered also gets a bit sadder upon learning that her actress Barbara Colby was murdered about four years after this episode was made.
