YMMV / Cinder and Smoke

Go To

  • Ho Yay: When Bukowski and Indigo are basically raising Cinder and Smoke together, this is inevitable.
  • Nightmare Fuel: "To Hell and Back", which features Cinder and Smoke being kidnapped by government agents and experimented on before Bukowski arrives to save them. Special mention goes to the truly lovely image of Cinder getting an endoscope shoved down his throat while he's still conscious so the scientists can figure out where his fire comes from.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Bukowski's backstory. Lost his mother as a child, raised by an abusive father...he didn't have a happy childhood.
    • Indigo's backstory as well—he was once married to a young woman named Sarah, but while they were on a drive, there was an accident and Sarah didn't make it. And it wasn't helped by the fact that before the accident, they were arguing, leaving Indigo with no way to make things better between them.
Indigo: Why couldn't it have been me?
    • This comic, overlapping with a heartwarming moment at the end—Bukowski has a nightmare about dying, leaving Cinder and Smoke all alone and afterward heads into the living room to sleep next to them. Cinder wakes up and asks what's wrong, to which Bukowski simply answers "I got scared". Cinder hugs him and says he'll protect him, prompting Bukowski to wonder if the twins realize that he needs them as much as they need him.
