• Angst? What Angst?:
  • Céline and Julie are surprisingly chill about bearing witness to a little girl's murder. Justified in that, after the initial shock, they start treating it more like watching a film than witnessing true events.
  • Neither are broken over the other ruining her romantic relationship (Céline to Julie) and blowing her chance at international stardom (Julie to Céline). Again justified in that both situations were revealed to be bad to begin with once we saw them from an outsider's point of view.
• Applicability: While the movie is about our relationship with fiction, it can also be specifically about fanfiction. Céline and Julie not only become obsessed with a story, but once they find out the ending they set out to fix it. They don't change anything else about the story, only the part that bothered them, and otherwise fool around with the characters and setting until they get the ending they want.
• Genius Bonus: Julie, occult researcher and amateur magic user, has a magic square drawn in chalk on a blackboard in her apartment.
• Paranoia Fuel: Just how many people went into 7 bis, rue du Nadir-aux-Pommes without ever freeing Madlyn and not even being able to remember what happens in the house once they got out?
• Signature Scene: The girls chasing each other, particularly Julie chasing Céline.
• Squick: The girls have no problem sharing their candies right after pulling them from each other's mouths.
