• Contested Sequel: People were not happy about Zombies not being available, especially since even the DS ports of Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Black Ops had Zombies, and they also had mobile ports of each.
• Obvious Beta: The game has been criticized for its large amounts of glitches and frequent crashes, especially for a shooter game. This is especially apparent in multiplayer in cases of bad connections, which can lead to floating corpses, aiming difficulties, and bugged weapons and items.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Fans of the series were disappointed by the lack of continuity references between Declassified and the main Black Ops games. In particular, supplementary materials for Call of Duty: Black Ops reveal a secret mission, Operation Charybdis, where Ryan Jackson, under orders from the CIA, was supposed to terminate Mason, Hudson, and Weaver, who were presumed to have gone rogue in South Africa. None of this is referenced in the game, despite the protagonist being Ryan Jackson.
