YMMV / Born to Run

  • Growing the Beard: This is the album that solidified the themes and musical direction that Springsteen wanted to move towards. To this day, it's frequently considered to be his best and most defining album, with similar status given to the title track - and the iconic "Thunder Road" as well. No surprise the two are among Springsteen's absolute personal favorites, and the two songs he most frequently played live.
  • Ho Yay: "Backstreets", due to the gender-ambiguity of the name Terry.
  • Sequel Displacement: For a number of people, this is the album where Bruce's career truly started and grabbed the attention of everyone.
  • Signature Song: The title track is Springsteen's Breakthrough Hit, still maintains its status as one of his most popular songs, and is easily the one he's identified with the most. "Thunder Road" also remains one of Springsteen's most iconic and popular songs, although it wasn't released as a single.
