• Unintentionally Sympathetic: The audience is supposed to see Louise's attempts to cut the gift line as greedy and selfish. The problem arises when one remembers that the Belchers are canonically poor and the kids have to work in the restaurant a lot of the time. As well, they're a typical sitcom family who go through a new crisis every week. The reason that the kids can't stand in line to wait with everyone else is explicitly because they have to help cater the parade. For anyone watching who has ever had to forgo activities, possessions, what-have-you because of poverty or work, Louise's attempts come off way more sympathetic—the Belchers are the exact demographic that the yacht club members would want to help.
