• Older Than They Think: Some readers assume that this was the first Beauty and the Beast retelling to make Beauty a bookworm and that the Disney version must have borrowed the idea from here. Actually, the version of the original fairy tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, published in 1756, states that Beauty "spent the greatest part of her time in reading good books": this version's Beauty and Disney's Belle presumably both draw inspiration from that version.
