YMMV / Batwoman 2019 S2E1 "Whatever Happened to Kate Kane?"

• Catharsis Factor: Given what an utter bastard he is, it's very satisfying to watch Ryan smash Hush's face in over and over (until the false face actually falls off!), followed by him getting re-captured and sent back to Arkham.
• He's Just Hiding: Naturally, with no sign of Kate's body after the supposedly fatal plane crash, not a lot of viewers seriously believe that she's dead. Then again, Ruby Rose's willing departure from the show makes the character's return highly unlikely.
• Squick: Ryan punches Hush in the face so many times that his Bruce Wayne disguise slips off, exposing Tommy's flayed face beneath it.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
  • The idea of Tommy posing as Bruce Wayne was a cliffhanger that had fans wondering how much trouble he could get into as Bruce. Instead, it takes five minutes for the team to figure out the ruse and send Tommy to Arkham. Between the shortened first season and Ruby Rose's departure, it's impossible to know if this was the original intent.
  • The whole reason Kate flew to National City anyway was to speak to Kara about the Kryptonite Bullet. At no point do we see Luke or Mary contact Kara and tell her what happened nor do we see Kara herself race over or even contact Luke when the crash makes breaking news. Even though Melissa Benoist was pregnant and about to give birth by the time this episode was filming they could have used a Fake Shemp in a quick scene to show Supergirl using her X-Ray power to try find Kate, or at least have had it mentioned!
