YMMV / Batman: Arkham VR

Go To

  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: A common criticism of the game is its short length, able to be beaten in well under an hour, if one isn't looking for Riddler trophies. It can be beaten in half an hour or less if you don't look for Easter Eggs.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Plenty, but a definite highlight would be during the flashback to Batman's origin when Joe Chill approaches Bruce and tells him "that's what happens when you try to be a hero, kid."
    • The ending. After wandering the halls of Arkham Asylum, you find Joker in one of the cells before he lures you into it. Then you find out that everything you've been investigating, from Nightwing's murder to Robin's disappearance, were done by you. As all of this takes form around you, your hands become bloody and the writings on the walls increase in number, and then, just to top it all off, your reflection in the mirror becomes the Joker taunting you in the most disturbing way possible, and then nothing. The game ends there. It would've been frightening on a TV Screen, but the fact that this is happening in virtual reality makes it downright terrifying.
    • Nightmare Retardant: The fact that you have full control over Batman/Joker's arms and hands means that you can screw around and cause some serious disconnects between tone and your character's actions. Make Batman do the Adam West dance as you slowly realize that you're the killer!
  • Player Punch: Even if you already know that it's All Just a Dream, the fact that Batman killed Nightwing and sees Robin murdered by Killer Croc in a trap Batman himself set up is a gut punch to the player, especially those who really liked either character.
