- Funny Moments: As expected from Asterix, this book also has this in spades. The biggest one probably is when during the final part of the race, Mt. Vesuvius erupts and spits out a big rock. Naturally, Obelix is so fed up with all the obstacles they've encountered... he throws back the rock where it came from and stops up the volcano, amusing every member of the audience.
- On the next panel, one of the Romans actually cheers for the Gauls!
- And on the panel after that, it's mentioned that Obelix's intervention made Vesuvius and its surroundings peaceful for a long time... until 79 A.D..
- Harsher in Hindsight: The name of Coronavirus became a bit less funny in 2020 (the comic book was published in 2017) due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. As a bonus, the book centers around a race in Italy, the first country outside of Asia to have an outbreak of the virus and one of the countries in Europe hit hardest by it.
