YMMV / An Act of True Humanity (MHA)

Go To

  • Ass Pull: A quirkless organization somehow managing to defeat the League of Villains when professional heroes with powers could not. How this was done is never explained.
  • Broken Base: Treating quirklessness like a ethnicity is divisive among readers if it even counts as such. In general the idea of a quirkless nation, which itself relies on a controversial fanon that quirkless people are discriminated against extensively, is either seen as a awesome idea that should have been in canon, or a borderline supervillian plot fueled by racism a la X-men villains, wanking the concept of a Badass Normal to a point of letting the quirkless be dangerous to villains, and forced parallels to real life events that do not properly gel.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The Q societies claims about not being villains and being mislabeled as such are a bit hard to swallow when Izuku panics that not keeping them under control could lead to violence and genuine danger to the public while issuing ultimatum videos and their dialogue about those with Quirks is as bad, if not worse, than what they get in return. Meanwhile, outside of Bakugo reacting to Izuku being involved, little if any actual discrimination against the Quirkless is shown in story, with the only thing done to them is a single failed vote, talk of but no shown discrimination against them, and a terrorist attack aimed at the Quirkless not be regular society, but by the League of Villains. Meanwhile Izuku, one of the more moderate members of the group, says lines like this.
Deku: A real future where you’re not judged or ostracized for being a true human amongst the freaks!
