  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: "Peace on Earth", a BSoD Song written about the 1998 Omagh bombing, experienced a huge surge of popularity in America after the even deadlier terrorist attack that was 9/11. In the aftermath of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, "Peace on Earth" received more airplay in the United States than it ever saw in Ireland.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: While unfortunate at the time, it's probably for the best that "Walk On" is now associated with 9/11. In recent years, the song's original inspiration, Aung San Suu Kyi, has gone from being symbolic of Burman resistance to military rule, to a symbol of indifference to the genocide of the Rohingya people in Burma/Myanmar. She even defended the military government in regards to the genocide. (The song's music video used to end with a dedication to Aung San Suu Kyi, and now has one for the Rohingya instead.)
  • Signature Song: "Beautiful Day", of course. While the other three singles are well-remembered, especially "Stuck in a Moment" and "Elevation", "Beautiful Day" is easily U2's most popular song of the 2000s.
  • Tear Jerker: One can't help but feel sorry for Bono when you learn of the story behind "Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of". "Kite" also qualifies, given it's about a kite as a metaphor for someone or something escaping one's realm of control (more or less, about Bono realizing a day will come when his daughters will no longer need him).
