- Hilarious in Hindsight: In the first chapter Meguru and Takashi, still children, talk about how to become stronger, and Meguru suggests just getting a gun. Many chapters and in-universe years later Takashi gets in a fight with four untrained thugs, dominating them thanks to his Karate and MMA training... And making sure to keep them from grabbing the one gun in the room, even breaking the hand of the one who almost got to it.
- Ho Yay: Maki is quick to point out the general Ho Yay of a bunch of sweaty, shirtless guys grabbing and throwing each other to the ground.
- Les Yay: The guys from the gym are quick to point out how it looks when Maki gets in a rather "suggestive" grappling match at the All Japan Amateur Shooto Championship.
