- Awesome Music: Heavy Metal: There's a reason Abigail is considered a classic among metal concept albums, and one of King Diamond's best overall.
- Designated Villain: Besides taking her revenge out on Count de La'Fey's descendant and his essentially-innocent wife, Abigail doesn't really do anything extraordinarily evil. We're told by The Count himself and his servants, the black horsemen that Abigail is "evil itself" and "the devil in disguise."
- Epic Riff: "Arrival," "A Mansion In Darkness," "The Family Ghost," and "Black Horsemen." The entire album is full of them, really.
- Growing the Beard: The entire album for King Diamond as a solo artist, and it made a pretty great shot in the arm for everyone else's careers too.
- Narm Charm: The lyrics in King's trademark falsetto delivery can become this for many people not used to it.
- Nightmare Fuel: Many moments throughout the album, but special mention should go to The Possession.Speaking with different tongues,Miriam was eaten alive from inside.Again, she said:But it wasn't love, oh no...She was possessed... Possessed!
- Signature Song: "The Family Ghost" for the entire band, which is the most-played original in their discography.
