- Spiritual Adaptation: Several people have compared the premise to Spider-Man 2, with both stories involving the protagonist struggling to balance their personal life and superhero life and ultimately deciding to give up the latter. Of course, Marinette/Ladybug being a Spider-Man Send-Up certainly helps.
- Unintentionally Sympathetic: Marinette is clearly portrayed as being in the wrong for quitting being Ladybug, judging by the effect her actions end up having on others, especially Adrien, as well as everyone saying how selfish she's being. Nevertheless, some people find it impossible to blame a 15-year-old girl for no longer wanting to be what's essentially a Child Soldier. It doesn't help that one of the reasons Marinette decided to quit is because she believes that she isn't best suited for the job after all, and that what Paris really needs is a Ladybug who can take the job in stride and who doesn't stand to lose everything that's good in her life to the point that she lives only for the benefit of others.
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Some people consider Alya to be this in the first chapter; Alya claims that she's not in the wrong for posting the story about Lila being Ladybug's best friend without confirming it was true first, since there is no source to confirm it and that if it really wasn't true, Ladybug should disconfirm it if for no reason other than Lila's safety, which is basically expecting someone else to do her job for her.
