- Tear Jerker: Aside from the brutal shock ending, Fernando coercing Elena into anal sex. Anais is in the room, pretending to be asleep, but can hear her sister's pained cries and starts crying herself.
- Unnervingly Heartwarming: For all of Anais and Elena's fighting and saying insulting things to each other, it's clear that they still love each other. In one scene, Elena and Anais are staring at themselves in a bathroom mirror, and Elena comments, "Nobody would think we were sisters." Anais replies, "When I hate you I look at you and then I can't." Later they are lying together in bed, giggling at old memories and laughing at how much they resent each other and always will.
