- Genius Bonus: The very idea of the Car being powered by Satan may be a Shout-Out to certain legends told about clever man-eating animals like the Beast of Gevaudan being possessed.
- Values Dissonance: Amos is first shown beating his wife during a very loud altercation and is later shown roughing her up in public and ends up being one of the film's heroes. While the film does justify it, having the Car being heavily implied to be a minion of the Devil and as such would want to spare bad person so they could do more evil, and also drops Amos's wife-beating habit in the second half, there's no way audiences would accept such a character surviving virtually unharmed in a modern film.
