YMMV / Sugar Rush

  • Adaptation Displacement: The series is somewhat better-known than the book it was based on (as evidenced by the fact that the TV series has a page on this wiki, while the book doesn't). And very few people probably remember the follow-up novel by Burchill, if they were ever aware of it to begin with.
  • Awesome Music: This series had a great soundtrack. The La's - "There She Goes", Basement Jaxx - "Bingo Bango", Goldfrapp - "Strict Machine", Bloc Party - "Banquet". A lot of fans were disappointed that "Don't Panic" by Coldplay wasn't included on the CD, as it was used very, very well in a scene where Kim and Beth are in the sea. Then there's the theme tune.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Some view Kim's attempted date rape of Sugar as this, even though she backs out of it and is clearly very naive about the whole situation.
    • Kim stealing Tom's dog forcing him to stand up Sugar, and all because she was jealous. Oh, and the dog dies as a result.
    • Sugar is with her lover and she calls Kim to ask what cunnilingus is in French as he can't speak English. Kim tells her the words for 'up the arse' and is genuinely disappointed the next day when Sugar enjoyed it.
    • Kim sacrificing Melissa by introducing her to Anna, the older woman who is known to treat her young lovers badly, including Kim herself... all to make Saint jealous.
  • Tear Jerker: Many moments, especially the scene with Sugar eventually breaking down in tears during the first season finale.
  • The Woobie: Mainly Kim in season 1, more Sugar in season 2. Nathan and Tom also have their moments - for the former, mainly when Stella has her affair, for the latter, it's mainly when he realises that he and Kim will never be together.
