->''"The actions you make, the choices you take, all shape us into forces of destiny."''
-->-- '''Maz Kanata'''

''Star Wars: Forces of Destiny'' is a Creator/{{Lucasfilm}} animated web series with shorts focusing on the heroines of ''Franchise/StarWars''. It covers multiple eras of the saga and features Creator/DaisyRidley, Creator/LupitaNyongo and Creator/FelicityJones reprising their roles as [[Film/TheForceAwakens Rey, Maz Kanata]] and [[Film/RogueOne Jyn Erso]], most notably. Also reprising their roles on the series are ''Star Wars'' animation veterans Creator/AshleyEckstein as [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars Ahsoka Tano]], Catherine Taber as [[Characters/StarWarsGalacticRepublicSenate Padme Amidala]], Matt Lanter as [[Characters/StarWarsAnakinSkywalker Anakin Skywalker]], Tiya Sircar as [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Sabine Wren]], Creator/VanessaMarshall as [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Hera Syndulla]], and Creator/GinaTorres as [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Ketsu Onyo]].

It debuted on the Creator/{{Disney}} WebSite/YouTube channel in July 2017. The preview can be seen [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MF2VFgCUSk here]].

In 2018, it received an ''[[ComicBook/StarWarsAdventures Adventures]]'' spin-off comic series under the subtitle of ''[[ComicBook/StarWarsForcesOfDestiny Adventures: Forces of Destiny]]''.
----
!!Tropes in this series include:

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:General]]
* ActionGirl: The series focuses on ''Star Wars'' heroines, who each incarnate the trope their own way.
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: Anakin gets this treatment with [[{{bishonen}} much more of a pretty-boy look]] than he had in ''The Clone Wars''. His scar isn't there, either.
* ArtEvolution: Ahsoka's [[BizarreAlienBiology montrals and lekku]] during the Republic era of the shorts are depicted as more rounder and wider, akin to her montrals and lekku as an adult as seen in ''Rebels'', making her appearance in this series a midpoint between her ''The Clone Wars'' appearance and her ''Rebels'' appearance.
* AscendedFanon: The common fan theory that the Ewoks ate the stormtroopers is referenced. They try, tying two of them in the same spits they were gonna roast Han and Luke on, but Leia insists on [[TheLawsAndCustomsOfWar treating the enemy fairly]].
* AssKickingPose: All of the heroines have one.
* BigfootSasquatchAndYeti: Leia runs into a wampa [[OhCrap while unarmed]]. She manages.
* BringIt: Jyn confronts a bunch of Stormtroopers while gesturing them forward with one finger.
--> '''Jyn:''' Why don't you pick on someone your own size?
* {{Narrator}}: Maz Kanata acts as the narrator, telling stories around a campfire.
* LighterAndSofter: While still action packed, the show definitely skews younger. Not that it's a bad thing though.
* PoliceBrutality: Stormtroopers love bullying nonhumans.
* RecycledSet: Two of the shorts take place on Endor, and at least three take place on Garel.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: [[CuteMachines BB-8]], the return of the Ewoks, the tooka....even the nightwatcher worm is sorta cute.
* SavedByCanon: At the time the series was announced, ''Rebels'' had finished its third season, but the appearance of Hera, Sabine, Ketsu, and Chopper in events that have yet to pass in ''Rebels'' at least confirms they survive what is yet to come in ''Rebels'' until then. For Hera, she survives up to ''Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack'' ([[http://ew.com/movies/2017/04/13/star-wars-female-heroes-forces-of-destiny-stories/ this article]] mentions an episode that puts her on Endor, suggesting she makes it all the way through the Trilogy), while Sabine eventually returns to the main Rebellion (having left to help the Mandalorian Resistance) a little before the events of ''Film/ANewHope'' (at the time of this announcement, it was not revealed that she would rejoin the Rebellion in Season 4 yet).
* WhamEpisode: "Accidental Allies" reveals that Jyn and Sabine have met in the past.

'''Timeframe''': Between scenes in ''Film/TheForceAwakens''

Shortly after rescuing BB-8, Rey and her new droid buddy find themselves coming across a misadventure with what lurks in the wilderness of Jakku.
----
* AffectionateGestureToTheHead: Rey boops BB-8 on his front lens after rescuing him from the worm.
* BigLittleMan: The [[SandWorm nightwatcher worm]] only showed its eye stalk in ''The Force Awakens''. When it emerges here, it's a giant worm with a very small eye stalk.
* CoveredInGunge: Downplayed as he's not completely soaked, but BB-8 nevertheless ends up with a fresh coat of worm ooze after spending a minute in its mouth.
* NonMaliciousMonster: The nightwatcher worm that eats BB-8 only wants food, and when Rey feeds it some of her junk it goes away without a fuss.
* NotSoDifferent: Rey's empathy for the creature likely stems from having a limited food supply in Jakku.
* PetTheDog: Rey tosses the nightwatcher worm a piece of junk as a replacement after she's denied it BB-8.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: [[CuteMachines BB-8]] wins over Rey quite easily.
* SandWorm: The nightwatcher worm, a metal-eating worm creature which swims through the sands of Jakku.

Rey and BB-8 take off on a speeder to flee scavenger thugs who want to steal BB-8.

* AndroclesLion: Downplayed when the nightwatcher worm eats Teedo's bike. It's just acting on instinct but could have gone for Rey, so it probably remembers that she fed it.
* BringIt: Rey gets off the bike to challenge Teedo, buying time for the nightwatcher worm to eat his bike.
* ChaseScene: The episode is centered around Rey fleeing Teedo and his gang on her speeder.
* DeadlyDodging: Rey takes out two of the thugs by braking at the right moment, causing them to crash into each other.
* NeverBringAKnifeToAGunfight: Or a staff. Without a blaster, Rey has to improvise against the thugs who are wielding rifles.

Leia and Wicket work together to save a few Ewoks from Stormtroopers.
----
* FantasticRacism: The Stormtroopers pass time by harassing the Ewoks, and casually wonder why the Empire didn't just wipe them all out when they landed.
* ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy: The Stromtroopers as usual, fail to shoot Wicket at close to pointblank range.
* LadyOfWar: Leia thanks the Ewoks for the dress, and then asks for the spear to go with it.
* RealityEnsues: Wicket uses a rope snare trap to grab two Stormtroopers, with himself as the counterweight jumping from the tree. After his momentum from the jump is gone, their combined weight is greater than his, causing him to be pulled back up until the weight is balanced.
* TemptingFate: The Stormtroopers mock the Ewoks they've captured for their primitive weapons. With an assist from Leia, the Ewoks end up getting their hands on the troopers' blasters.
* UnlimitedWardrobe: The short explains why Leia had a new dress on at the village. The Ewoks made her one as a thank-you.

On her way to a Jedi ceremony, Ahsoka leaps into action to stop a malfunctioning droid.

* AshFace: No explosion involved, but Ahsoka winds up covered in soot after her battle with the droid.
* DudleyDoRightStopsToHelp: Ahsoka is already late for the ceremony but stops to fight the droid anyway. Yoda approves.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: Well, beads instead because she doesn't have hair, but Ahsoka gets a new Padawan braid to mark her advancement in Jedi training.
* HypocriticalHumor: Anakin reassures Yoda that Ahsoka will be there on time, when it's very clear it's him whose panicking.

Leia and R2-D2 must free Chewie from the clutches of a ferocious wampa.
-----
* BadassInDistress: Chewie is captured by a wampa.
* DugTooDeep: Chewie was digging corridors and broke into a wampa cave.
* HollywoodDarkness: The cave is fairly visble but meant to be pitch black, with the lights from Leia's lantern and R2's search light showing what the characters can see.
* JustInTime: The door finally powers up and closes barely a second before the wampa gets through.
* OhCrap: 3P0 calls Leia's wrist comm at the exact wrong time, waking the wampa.
* WeNeedADistraction: Leia offers to distract the wampa while Chewie and R2 repair the door.

[[folder: ''The Imposter Inside'']]
'''Timeframe''': During ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars''

Ahsoka and Padme face off against a shape-shifting bounty hunter.
----
* TheBusCameBack: Cato Parasitti -- Cad Bane's partner from "Holocron Heist" -- is the Clawdite bounty hunter, though this isn't explicitly stated in the short.
* ImprobableCover: Ahsoka improvises a cover for Padme out of the table, and it holds up against blaster shots.
* ImprovisedWeapon: Padme hits the bounty hunter over the head with a large decanter.
* RelocatingTheExplosion: Ahsoka cuts the bomb out of the table and throws it out the window, letting it explode harmlessly in the sky.
* SpottingTheThread: Ahsoka notices that the handmaiden is setting the table with utensils, which the delegates Padme is entertaining don't need.
* WhyWasteAWedding: Well, a party, but the spirit of the trope is there. After the negotiations have to be postponed, Ahsoka and Padme dig into the food themselves.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Ahsoka quips that Padme reminds her of Anakin right after she knocks the assassin unconscious.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: ''The Stranger'']]
'''Timeframe''': Before ''Film/RogueOne''

Jyn comes to the aid of a little girl bullied by stormtroopers.
----
* ADogNamedDog: Unless it's a nickname, the tooka's name is Tookie.
* [[ABoyAndHisX A Girl And Her Tooka]]: By the girl's own admission, her tooka is all she has.
* CombatPragmatist: Jyn shoots out a pipe to cover her escape and then drops the stormtroopers into a sewer
* ContinuityNod:
** Jyn hesitates for a moment before revealing her true name. As revealed in ''Literature/RebelRising'', she was going by an alias at the time.
** The Empire taking cats seems weird, but there has been one instance in ''Literature/BattlefrontTwilightCompany'' where an Imperial governor had another species of cats culled out of fear too many were becoming feral.
** The world is Garel (and is in fact the first instance we've seen of Garel outside of the ports), a major recurring location in ''[[Literature/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]''.
* FriendToAllChildren: As seen in the film, Jyn has a weakness for children in danger.
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: The short takes place on Garel, meaning that Jyn was a short hyperspace trip away from the events of ''Rebels''. In fact, the Phoenix Cell was ''on'' Garel for a short time during the second season, leaving the possibility that Jyn may have been around during that time. Turns out to be a case of {{Foreshadowing}}.
* ProducePelting: Jyn chucks a meiloorun at a stormtrooper to get his attention.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Tookie might be the cutest [[CuteKitten tooka]] on screen yet, and her personality makes her all the more endearing.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: ''Bounty of Trouble'']]
'''Timeframe''': During ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]''

Sabine Wren has to fake an attack on a certain Imperial delegate by the name of Leia.
----
* AmbiguousTimePeriod: The ExpositionDump (as detailed below) makes it vague as to whether or not the events of "A Princess On Lothal" have already happened (considering in that episode, neither of them seem to properly introduce themselves to each other). The fact that Sabine's on Garel, which the rebels abandoned the episode before "A Princess On Lothal", may indicate that this was before that episode, though there's nothing against the possibility that Sabine returned after the evacuation.
* ContinuityNod:
** The events of the short take place on Garel, just like the short released before this, "The Stranger".
** Sabine's artistic shtick is in full play -- she gets the stormtroopers with a paint bomb, just like in the ''Rebels'' promotional short, "Art Attack".
** This won't be the only time an important data file in Leia's hands has to be sent off.
** Sabine's theme plays as Sabine and Leia part ways.
* ExpositionDump: Sabine introducing herself and Leia reiterating why she can't be seen openly helping Sabine is for the sake of audience members who haven't watched ''Rebels'' and are [[JustHereForGodzilla just here for Leia]].
* KillerRobot: IG-88 in a rare animated appearance.
* SummonBiggerFish: Leia manages to con the stormtroopers into attacking IG-88 instead of the actual culprit, Sabine Wren.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:''Newest Recruit'']]
'''Timeframe:''' During ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]''

Sabine attempts to recruit her old friend, Ketsu Onyo, to the Rebellion by partnering up in a supply mission.
----
* AdaptationExpansion: The novelization adds in additional scenes and dialogue not in the short.
* AmbiguousTimePeriod: The short at least takes place after Season 3, as evidenced by the magazine comics featuring Ketsu, which go into Season 3.
* AsYouKnow: In the novelization, Sabine and Hera explain to each other who Ketsu is and why she hasn't joined yet for the sake of ExpositionDump & if viewers have forgotten who she is (as of this writing, she last appeared in Season 2 of ''Rebels''--two years ago before ''Forces of Destiny'' began--and hasn't appeared in the show since).
* BittersweetEnding: Yay! The child is saved! Ketsu is a rebel!... But mission failed; not a single crate of food was taken back. Unless Hera magnet-grabbed the crates like in other episodes of ''Rebels'', or even found another place to steal crates.
* CallBack: To the events of "Blood Sisters". Other encounters with Ketsu in "The Forgotten Droid" and the magazine comics aren't talked about, though justified in that they're besides the point.
* CallForward: Sabine's new appearance in Season 4 has her change her orange starbird to yellow. In the novelization, she paints a yellow starbird onto Ketsu's armor at the end of this episode. However, as LimitedWardrobe is in play, Sabine is still in her Season 2 appearance, and the actual episode revealed Ketsu's starbird is just the regular Rebel Alliance insignia.
* ContinuityNod: Though not explicitly referenced, Ketsu left Black Sun due to being disgruntled with their methods. In [[Magazine/StarWarsRebelsMagazine the magazine comics]], in one incident, she informs Sabine that an old friend of hers has been imprisoned by Black Sun so she can break him out, and in another incident, she refuses to follow orders to kill a former hitman of Black Sun who quit the organization because he was tired of killing & wanted to take care of his family.
* ExpositionDump: In the short, Sabine explains that Ketsu left Black Sun and is now open to joining the rebels.
* GoodCostumeSwitch: Sabine paints a rebel starbird over the Black Sun insignia on Ketsu's armor when the latter agrees to join the rebels.
* HeelFaceTurn: Ketsu eventually left Black Sun offscreen prior to this episode. According to the novelization, it was because [[EverybodyHasStandards she didn't like they way they rolled]].
* InnocuouslyImportantEpisode: Ketsu joins the Rebellion at the end of the episode, a rather important choice for her to make, in spite of the show being about minor moments in the characters' lives.
* LastNameBasis: Ketsu refers to Sabine as "Wren", at least in the novelization.
* WouldntHurtAChild: While we don't know how she would've dealt with young children prior to "Blood Sisters" and she does mock a preteen boy in "Too Late to Change" from the ''Rebels Magazine'', a Chadra-Fan child refugee found hiding in the food crate in the midst of a firefight is used to show that Ketsu does care and is capable of being a heroine by helping Sabine in trying to get both him and the crate back to the ''Ghost''.

'''Timeframe:''' During ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars The Clone Wars]]''

As Ahsoka teaches Padmé to pilot a starfighter, they are attacked by a droid starfighter.
----
* AceCustom: Padmé's starfighter is covered in chromium like the rest of her ships. It lets her shrug off light blaster fire.
* ContinuityNod: Padmé salutes with two fingers, just like her [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars husband]] and [[Film/ReturnOfTheJedi son]].
* GirlsNightOutEpisode: The short focuses on Ahsoka teaching Padmé combat maneuvers with her Naboo Starfighter.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: Padmé brushes off her starfighter getting shot, telling Artoo to simply put out the fire it makes.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: The Vulture Droid has a disc on its top and can now fire green high-energy pulse blasts.
* StealthHiBye: Padmé pulls this off on the Vulture Droid, allowing her to destroy it.
* TakingTheBullet: Ahsoka gets in the way of a Vulture Droid's blast almost about to hit Padmé. This puts her out for the entire fight.

'''Timeframe:''' In between ''Film/TheForceAwakens'' scenes.

During their trip to Takodana, Rey and Chewbacca remove a tracker from the ''Millennium Falcon'', having been placed there by Unkar Plutt.
----
* CuttingTheKnot: Tracker will explode in 20 seconds if removed? Rip it off, throw it out the airlock, and then hyperspace away before it explodes.
* LanguageBarrier: Comes up as a problem when Chewie and Finn have to work together.
* NervesOfSteel: Finn is surprisingly calm when Rey tells him he's holding a live grenade.

'''Timeframe:''' During ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars The Clone Wars]]''

Anakin teaches a frustrated Ahsoka to fight with two lightsabers. Yoda intervenes, deals with the young Jedi and teaches her a valuable lesson.
----
* BeYourself: Ahsoka learns the key to mastering dual-wielding: she must fight like herself and not in any other way.
* CallBack: After years of being a NoodleIncident, we're finally learning how Ahsoka got around to dual-wielding, albeit perhaps not how she got her shoto.
* CallForward:
** Yoda encourages Ahsoka to create new moves with her two lightsabers. Her new move is deflecting a blade from behind, just as she would in ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]'' when [[spoiler:Vader tries to strike her down from the back as she stalls so Kanan and Ezra can escape Malachor]].
** Possibly a stretch, but a shot of Ahsoka and Anakin in a blade-lock seems framed similarly to a shot in ''Rebels'' where [[spoiler:Vader presses down Ahsoka while blade-locking]].
* ContinuityNod: The Jedi training dojo appears as it did in the ''[[ComicBook/StarWarsKanan Kanan]]'' comic and ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]'' television series.
* {{Facepalm}}: Anakin does this when Ahsoka forgets to bow, and when she falls during her battle with Master Yoda.
* ReverseGrip: Ahsoka starts out holding her blades the normal way, but when Yoda tells her to fight like herself, she switches to this and does much better.

Sabine and Jyn accidentally meet while fleeing from Stormtroopers.
----

* OneDegreeOfSeparation: Sabine has no idea how important Jyn is (or perhaps [[Film/RogueOne "will be"]]) to the rebels, particularly Saw, [[AmbiguousTimePeriod who she or may not have met by now]]. Likewise, Jyn doesn't know that Sabine is more than just some random rebel and that she's met/she'll meet Saw.

* ContinuityNod:

* ContinuityNod:

As Ahsoka teaches Padmé to pilot a starfighter, they are attacked by a droid starfighter.

* CallForward:
