The Misadventures of Buddy and Friend is the tale of three inept heroes: Buddy, Leo and Lokh Tharr who set out on an epic quest to save the world from an ever impending demon invasion. Buddy is the careless leader whose negligence ends up getting the team into trouble. Leo is a Barbarian with a heart of gold, whose good intentions also end up getting the team in trouble. And Lokh Tharr is a morally bankrupt… er… wizard(?)… whose terrible hijinks also end up getting the team into trouble.
Together, these guys travel from kingdom to kingdom in order to retrieve the keys to an inter-dimensional axe known as Riftwielder so they can seal away the evil demon lord, Emperor Gingersnap. On the flipside, Emperor Gingersnap has sent out some of his own heroes to retrieve Riftwielder so he can use it to bring forth his army from hell.

- Evil Sorceror: Lokh Tharr is this strip's answer to Richard: a viciously evil wizard somehow roped into a heroic quest. He is not, however, a token evil teammate...
- MacGuffin: The Riftwielder. Both parties (The "heroes" and a small squad of demon warriors) are looking for it.
- Revenge Before Reason: Leo attacks the dragon who killed his grandfather as soon as he claps eyes on it. By jumping off a cliff onto its back. And dropping his axe down a crevasse.
- Running Gag: The heroes poison a well by accident and the peasants are too stupid to quit drinking from it.
- Token Good Team Mate: Leo, the Catfolk barbarian is the only hero on the quest. Lokh Tharr is an evil wizard and Buddy is a kill-stealing Jerkass.
- Tom the Dark Lord: Emperor Gingersnap, Demon King.
- Two Guys and a Girl: The Power Trio of recurring demon characters consists of an incubus, a ravager, and a succubus.
