Those are their standard expressions.
'Permanent Roommates' is a web series released by Indian online digital entertainment channel, TheViralFever or TVF in late 2014. It was the first webseries to gain prominence among the Indian audience, and many imitators from different channels have since spawned. Its popularity even led to it getting a second season, released from February to June 2016.

The show revolves around a young couple from Mumbai, Mikesh Chaudhary (Sumeet Vyas) and Tanya Nagpal (Nidhi Singh) who have been in a long-distance relationship for three years. When Mikesh suddenly returns from the USA and proposes to Tanya, she's left in a quandary as to whether she really wants to marry him or not. The first season deals with the two of them developing a stronger relationship, and deciding whether to go ahead with the marriage or not. In the second season, Tanya's unexpected pregnancy causes Mikesh's parents (and grandfather) to come down to Mumbai and immediately start planning for the wedding.

The first season can be watched here while the second season can be watched here, although the last two episodes are missing. Season two in its entirety can be watched on TVF's website, (membership is required to watch videos, but it is free). Both seasons have English subtitles.

Tropes found in 'Permanent Roommates' include:

  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • Tanya calls Mikesh "Mickey" while he calls her "Tanu".
    • In season 2, Ila calls Brijmohan "Brij".
  • Always Identical Twins:
    • Tanya's maternal uncles, Dr. Mudit (a gynaecologist) and Dinesh (a priest).
    • Purushottam's much younger brothers Sarvottam and Narottam are this as well.
  • Flash Back Echo: Invoked in the season two finale. After Tanya's miscarriage, she is having serious doubts about continuing the relationship. Mikesh attempts to keep the love alive by recreating their first date, which is shown in a flashback intercut with scenes of the present.
  • The Ghost: Tiwari, a mutual friend of Mikesh and Tanya, who is only alluded to most of the time. He is seen in the Flashback in the Season Two finale, but even then, his face is obscured by a helmet.
  • "Rashomon"-Style: Season Two, Episode Five, "The Memories". Mikesh, Tanya and Purushottam tell Dinesh about an event which caused them to lose their baby's first sonogram. Each of them have separate accounts, all glorifying the narrator. At the end, the sonogram is returned, and they try to create a new, happy memory together.
  • Second Love: Many years after her mother's death, Tanya's father Brijmohan falls in love with her sister Ila. This creates quite a bit of scorn and suspicion among Mikesh's family, but they eventually come around to her. Mikesh even calls her "Mummy Number 3" (Mummy Number 1 and 2 being his own mother and Tanya's late mother respectively).
  • Self-Applied Nickname: Lleo. His real name is Lakshman, but he insists everyone call him Lleo.
  • Wacky Marriage Proposal: Two in season one.
    • In the first episode of season 1, Mikesh shows up at Tanya's building unannounced (but unwittingly ends up on the wrong floor). Consequently, he proposes to her from the bottom of a flight of stairs, while she's in her nightsuit.
    • In the fifth episode, Tanya and Mikesh are at the registrar's office, when they have an argument and Mikesh leaves. Tanya stops him, kneels and using a key ring in place of an engagement ring, asks him, "Will you be my permanent roommate?"
  • Wham Episode: Season two, episode six, "The Gift". The first forty-eight minutes of the episode deal with Mikesh and Tanya babysitting Purushottam's brothers, Sarvottam and Narottam, and while they cause problems, the whole family has fun with them. The purpose of the episode up till then simply seemed like another experience to help Tankesh prepare to be parents. In the last three minutes, however, it is revealed that Tanya has miscarried.
