Kaoruko is also a Dreamer

Kaoruko, the librarian and neighbor, also visits the same dream world that Kazuhiho [sic] does when she sleeps. Her reaction upon first seeing Marie was utter surprise and astonishment perhaps because this proved that the dream world she is experiencing is real. Kaoruko may be in such a desperate state to get to know Kazuhiho and Marie better to try to verify that they visit the same dream world she does.
