WMG / The Weaver Option

Go To

The identities of the remaining Endbringers
"It is difficult to compare the strength of the great enemies of Lady Weaver and assess which is the most dangerous monster among the eight. The servants of the Ruinous Powers are subjects to the whims of the Four in the Sea of Souls, naturally making proper estimations utterly impossible, but the beings living in the Materium are no simple matter either. Shards of the Endless Swarm do not represent the totality of the malevolence and the abilities of the C'Tan known as Iash'uddra. The less said about the Fourth and the Eighth Endbringer, the better. And my colleagues are still wondering what exactly the Sixth is."

We know that Taylor has, along her (very long) career in the Imperium, eight arch-enemies that are collectively known as the Endbringers. As of the end of the Extinction arc, she's already met four of them: Iash'uddra The Endless Swarm, Ka'Bandha The Angels Bane, Aenaria Eldanesh the Queen of Blades and Behemoth, avatar of the Tyranid Swarm. That leaves four, of whom the barest of details have been shared: for the Fourth and the Eighth, as noted above, "the less said the better", and the Sixth the Inquisition is still trying to figure out, and nothing is mentioned of the Fifth or the Seventh at all.

  • The Fourth being Behemoth, the Tyranid Hive Ship that was hidden at the bottom of Fenris' oceans for millenia., it's understandable that the Inquisition wants as little as possible to be mentioned. Of course, while Behemoth the ship was killed, it was still a Tyranid, so there's no doubt it'll be back.
  • The Sixth's likeliest candidate is The Simurgh due to her utterly alien nature.
    • The Simurgh could actually be foreshadowing for another Entity seeing as that was it's purpose in Ward. Apollyon which surpasses Scion and Eden would be a likely candidate due to Escalation.
  • Malicia could be any of them, but likely the Eighth, since she's a Parahuman Chaos Sorceress, something the people in charge of the Imperium would likely not want others to know about. We have seen Malicia, but she and Taylor haven't actually met, yet, though they HAVE spoken.
  • One possibility is an exceptionally powerful Ork Warboss, due to the hints of one starting to gather a WAAAGH! to attack "The Swarm Bringa" as the Ovation Arc arrives.
    • It's possible that Brukk Brukk the Mek-boy could take the role - he's being growing steadily stronger and more important with each battle and is now, he thinks, receiving visions from Gork and Mork. Particularly since he has shown an amazing ability to get away alive only to show up again later, playing into the fact that the Endbringers all will show multiple times. There is also the point that he could somehow tell when Weaver arrived at Mandragora.
  • A powerful Chaos Warlord is a likely candidate, particularly since Taylor has, as of the Extinction arc, met Ezekyle Abaddon, leader of the Black Legion. There is also mention of both Typhus and Mortarion of the Death Guard at the end of Extinction, but considering what happened to Lucius and Lorgar, perhaps less likely. There's also the possibility of Cypher, who after all is an expert at always having another plan and another way out, playing into the "returning many times".
  • It's worth noting that the unnamed Lord Inquisitor specifically classed the Fourth, Sixth and Eight Endbringers in the "beings living in the Materium" category. This implies that the Fifth and Seventh are Chaos aligned beings.
    • While the Inquisitor mentions the Fourth, Sixth and Eighth after "beings living in the materium", there's no sign that he linked one to the other. He mentions Iash'Uddra along with the unknown, but he does NOT mention the Queen of Blades, who would also fit under "beings of the materium".

Surviving Primarchs
We know that several of the Loyalist Primarchs are alive and have been found. Who haven't we seen? Where are the ones we know of? As of the end of the Extinction Arc, the Loyalists are:

  • Rogal Dorn of the Imperial Fists: Found imprisoned in Commorragh. Freed by Taylor and her forces, and instantly off into the Webway to find his fellow Primarch Jagatai Khan. Got a lift back to the Imperium at the end of 12-3.
  • Jaghatai Khan of the White Scars: After the Heresy ended, spent much time searching for Dorn, until he was lost in the Webway. Found by Dorn after Commorragh, and they both are now looking for a way out - on a world that has Astropathic communication with the Imperium, as their first exit took them to an uncolonized Death World. Got a lift back to the Imperium at the end of 12-3.
  • Roboute Guilliman of the Ultramarines: Using Taylor's power of SACRIFICE, Cawl had the time to administer the antidote as of 11-5, but even with the intervention and the cure, he's not going to be up to the standard level of a Primarch for several years.
  • Corvus Corax of the Raven Guard: Fought in the Battle of Five Primarchs on Fenris with Leman Russ and Magnus against Lorgar and Omegon (and eventually the Avatar of Malal). Gave his power over shadows to Elena Kerrigan/Shadow Stalker to set up the Avatar of Malal for a surprise attack, but leaving him with a "soul wound" that Taylor could detect. Much like Guilliman, is not going to be up to snuff for quite a while.
  • Vulkan of the Salamanders: So far haven't been seen, but since Taylor has found two of the nine artifacts that are supposed to herald his return, as well as the Legion flagship AND several hundred time-lost Salamander marines, the likelyhood that we'll see him is, to say the least, high.
  • Leman Russ of the Space Wolves: Returned with the Space Wolves' Gloriana-class battleship at the beginning of Black Crusade 10-5 and took command of the Imperial reinforcements relieving the defenders of the Fenris system. Fought against Lorgar and Omegon with Corvus Corax and Magnus until the ascension of Malal to the Throne of the Fourth Chaos God, whose Avatar he eventually destroyed with the aid of Elena Kerrigan and Corvus. After a visit to Terra to deliver Magnus to his father, he is now focused on reorganizing his former Legion in their new homeworld in the Macragge System after the destruction of Fenris.
  • Lion El'Johnson of the Dark Angels: Hasn't been mentioned, presumably still alive at the heart of the Rock as in canon. Cypher HAS been seen, which reinforces this. As does the escape/freeing of Luther in part 12-1
  • Ferrus Manus of the Iron Hands: Confirmed dead at the Dropsite Massacre at Istvaan V, as in the canon.
  • Sanguinius of the Blood Angels: Dead at the hands of Horus at the Siege of Terra. Of course, what with Taylor being the protector of all the descendants of the 9th Legion, that Dorn said that she reminded him of the Great Angel, AND the changes as of 10-4, this might not be entirely certain. Taylors "aura" went from pure gold at the beginning of the chapter to "golden-red" at the end of it, after having met, and received, the power of, the Sanguinor. At the end of 11-4, Taylor also receives the last "shard" of Sanguinius' power at the bridge of the Black Legion flagship Vengeful Spirit.
  • Hattori Hanzo of the Tsunami Sabers: The 2nd Legion died before the Heresy, and its Primarch was possessed by the C'tan Iash'uddra. When Taylor defeats the shard possessing him, he finally dies, having been kept alive by the Endless Swarm.

When it comes to the Traitors, things stand like this:

  • Horus of the Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus: Dead at the hands of the Emperor, after he killed Sanguinius, just as in canon.
  • Perturabo of the Iron Warriors: Made into a Daemon Prince by Chaos Undivided. Haven't been seen, confirmed to be staying on his Daemon World in the Eye of Terror. As of 12-1, however, he's begun taking a hand, sending Warsmith Toramino to The Graveyard of a Thousand False Gods as well as working with the demon Arkifane against the 11th.
  • Mortarion of the Death Guard: Made into a Daemon Prince by Nurgle. Like Perturabo, hasn't been seen. Yet. Makes his first appearance fighting against the King in Yellow in Arc 12. Having been the first Primarch to fall in the battle against the King in Yellow, Nurgle has punished Mortarion by binding him to a throne and a mystical plant that feeds on him and produces fruit that serve as crude progenoids to create new Death Guard Astartes.
  • Fulgrim of the Emperors Children: Technically dead, and his body possessed by a Daemon of Slaanesh, which lost the ability to claim to be Fulgrim after being wounded by Weaver at Commorragh; this also broke his control over the Third Legion. However, Fulgrim's soul is imprisoned in a painting on board the Third Legion flagship, which Nurgle threw across the Warp. So, technically both dead and not, yet. At the end of Black Crusade 10-5, the Avatar of Malal cast the Naga Fazar'nzlath'hesh out of Fulgrim's body, leaving it alive but soulless. Said body is, as of 12-1 on Terra, having been brought by Russ, along with Magnus. According to Magnus, reviving and redeeming him is theoretically possible, but step one would be finding and retrieving his imprisoned soul, and nobody knows where to even start looking.
  • Angron of the World Eaters: Made into a Daemon Prince by Khorne. Similarly to Perturabo and Mortarion, he hasn't been seen yet. Summoned to the Calyx Hell Stars to fight against the King in Yellow in 12-2. Killed to empower Lotara Sarrin's ascension in 12-3.
  • Konrad Curze of the Night Lord: Dead, killed by a Callidus assassin in the 31st millenia, as in Canon.
  • Magnus the Red of the Thousand Sons: After being betrayed by Lorgar, he joined Leman Russ and Corvus Corax in fighting against Lorgar and Omegon until the ascension of Malal. The Avatar of Malal stripped him of his status as a Daemon-Prince and his psyker abilities, returning him to "merely" being a Primarch, and breaking the chains that bound Magnus to Tzeentch, as well as reverting the Rubric of Ahriman. Once the immediate fighting was over, he was arrested by Russ and Corax. After being taken to Terra to face trial before the Golden Throne, he has been sentenced to probation under the supervision of the Custodes, with the first of an unknown number of tasks needed to earn redemption being to reorganize the Emperor's personal library. Like Corvus, also suffering a "soul wound", in his case due to having his psychic abilities stripped.
  • Lorgar of the Word Bearers: DEAD! Killed in 11-5, by Guilliman and then Taylor wipes his soul out so that Chaos can't use it, much as she did with Sliscus.
  • Alpharius/Omegon of the Alpha Legion: Alpharius is dead, killed by Dorn at the end of the Heresy. After rejecting the Emperor's offer of protection at the beginning of Black Crusade 10-4, Omegon was forcibly transformed into a Daemon Prince by Malal at the end of Black Crusade 10-5, and all of the Alpha Legion still loyal to him start falling to Anarchy.
  • And last is the second Lost Legion, the 11th. Who they are and what happened to them is still unknown, but Malicia said that she "found their grave" and that she will "take their banner" for herself. And whatever it was that ended them is enough to worry Taylor. An undead Space Marine, claiming to serve The King in Yellow, one of the titles of the Primarch of the 11th, appeared when Taylor faced Abaddon. He was described as likely the worst of all the Primarchs even before the fall. Magnus said that they even compared to Curze of the Night Lords, and that all the Primarchs had at least ONE friend among the others....except for him. His true identity is revealed to be Nagash, the King of Bones, commander of the Witch Hunters Legion, later known as the Unspeakables.

The 100 Most Wanted of the Imperium of Man
The story regularly throws up a Most Wanted "poster", listing who the most dangerous and/or hated beings of the Imperium are. While the list has changed, both because some have died and because some have been shown to be more dangerous than thought, those that have been listed, as of 12-4, are as follows:

"Apostle of Betrayal"
Dead Only. Sorcerer-Heretek. Traitor Astartes. Extremis Traitoris. Extremis Diabolis. Excommunicate Traitoris. Extremis-Omega Moral Threat. Ekodas show how the placement on the list is less about how dangerous they are. While he isn't a weakling, he's likely less of a threat than Drazhar who is an "Extremis-Physical" threat. It's more about what they've done against the Empire.

Killed, by Khârn, during the 5th Black Crusade
This shows how utterly hated and loathsome Erebus was, and also shows that the "level" of how wanted by the Empire a being is is less about how dangerous they are and more about how hated they are. There is very little chance that Erebus could outdo Khârn OR Lelith Hesperax, either of whom could likely kill their way through entire Space Marine legions, but he's still more wanted than either.

    Jago Sevatarion, 8th Most Wanted
Former First Captain of the Traitor Night Lords. Added to the wanted list after the revelation of his continued survival during the Battle of Macragge, replacing Erebus. The details of his bounty have not been revealed.

Dead Only. First Captain of the Traitor Fourteenth Legion. Excommunicate Traitoris. Extremis-Omega Contagion Threat. Extremis-Alpha Psychic Threat. Extremis-Beta Physical Threat. Extremis-Alpha Moral Threat. Do Not Engage without Astartes Chapter support. If military help does not include void-sealed armours, engage with incindiary ammunition: Contagion must be prevented AT ALL COSTS. Alpha-Primus Information: this Traitor is so contagious that his arrival on a planet is a death sentence in its own right. Recommended method is to incinerate him from orbit. Warning: The flagship of the accursed Traitor is sufficient to be a match for an entire Battlefleet. Do not engage it without adequate support, and for the love of the God-Emperor, do not attempt to board it!

Critical Information: The accursed traitor has created so many clones over the millennia that we believe there are thousands of Fabius Biles at large in the galaxy; only by torching his network of gene labs will his death be considered certain.

    Kelbor-Hal, 2nd Most Wanted

Dead Only. Ex-First Captain of the Traitor Sixteenth Legion. Supreme Commander of the Black Legion. Apocalyptically Dangerous. Extremis-Omega Physical Threat. Extremis-Omega Corruptive Threat. Do Not Engage without several Astartes Chapters and Crusade-Level military support. If military help insufficient, flee on sight. Reward: 100 Quadrillion Throne Gelts, 1 Quadrant Overlordship, immediate Terran Triumph, Tertiary Senatorum Imperialis seat, "Lord Solar" title, single-use Tithe privilege upon 100 worlds, single-use Mechanicus technological tribute upon 12 Forge Worlds, single-use Ecclesiarchy donation upon 10 Shrine Worlds, right to issue Warrants of Trade, 20 Merchant Charters, Etc...

With these mentioned, who are among the 100 that haven't been counted? The Traitor Primarchs used to be on the list, but were later pulled by the Inquisition on the grounds that Daemons are virtually unkillable. High level officers of the Traitor Legions, such as the Ezekarion (Abaddon's inner circle of associates) are probable. Luther, now that he is known to be alive and at large, is another good candidate.

Some of the others are probably Xenos of some sort, but with the Dark Eldar reduced to an eighth of their original population after Commorragh, odds are good that most Drukhari dangerous enough to justify a place in the top 100 who haven't already been explicitly mentioned are already dead. A possible exception for this is the Tyrant of Shaa-dom, as well as the other people holding the Muses Taylor had to give up. There are Necrons dangerous enough to qualify that would be hostile to humanity once they awaken and learn of them, but the Imperium doesn't know about them yet, as the Necrons are newcomers to the era. That would make the most likely race of Xenos to make the Top 100 the Orks, though after the War of the Beast, the Imperium knows that any Warboss that gets that powerful needs to be killed quickly before they become another Beast, making it harder for them to rise that high in the ranks. There are also a few Eldar, such as Princess Saarania that might qualify, having not followed the general lead of Taylor and Atharti. Possibly, we'll also see humans that, technically, aren't fallen to Chaos.
