The episode "Can a Luthor Change his Spots?" served as an inspiration for the Corrupt Corporate Executive Lex Luthor.
In that episode, Lex Luthor had a device that could easily open bank vault doors and used it in an attempt (that Jimmy Olsen unwittingly ruined out of his belief Luthor was robbing the bank) to rescue two people from a vault before they died from lack of air. The fact he can use his skills for good purposes and probably be paid for it and still plot evil schemes showed the possibility. The Tunnel of Love in "Luthor's Loco Looking Glass was intended to invoke Security Cling.
