General Zaroff won the final fight, but Rainsford found death to be perfectly wonderful and relaxing. This pleasantly surprised him and is what he meant by "He had never slept in a better bed." Zaroff's island is a timeshare that he co-owns with Dr. Moreau
And, to the General's delight, Moreau has the means to provide Zaroff with even more dangerous quarries...- Moreau's island is hinted to be in the South Pacific, while Zaroff's is in the Caribbean. It'd be tricky for an island to be in two different locations on opposite sides of the American continent.
